#StopCatLitterSmell with Litter Genie

I love my two cats, Butters and Tati, but you know what I hate? Having to clean the litter box. Keeping their box clean can be so inconvenient - you have to find a small bag, scoop up the waste AND, if you don't want your home to smell like their box, you have to take the bag to the dumpster every day.

So, needless to say, I was very happy to get the opportunity to try the Litter Genie. What is the Litter Genie, you ask?

"Litter box odors have a new nemesis: the Litter Genie® Pail. It’s not just a convenient litter disposal system; it’s a nose-friendly, life-improving, happy-dance-inducing little savior for both you and your cat."

The seven layer bags that it uses helps lock away odor so I can breathe easy! How do you use it? Well, it's quite simple:

1. Scoop

2. Open the lid and drop the clumps

3. Pull the handle to lock it in

Pros:
*The pail holds up to two weeks of litter so I can kiss all those trips to the dumpster goodbye! Yay!

*The refills can last up to two months.

*The pail has a small footprint so I can easily store it in tight places.

*Odor is contained well.

Cons(only 1):

*The refills can be a bit pricey at most stores but Amazon and Walmart usually have pretty good deals on them!

You can purchase a Litter Genie at mass merchandise stores like Target and Walmart or pet stores such as PetSmart. It can also be purchased on Amazon!

Yaaasss! A new Line from Leaders Cosmetics!

Oh, Leaders...how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Ever since I tried my first mask from Leaders, I fell hard. They've quickly become one of my favorite mask brands.

But did you know that Leaders makes more than masks? They have a variety of skin care products from creams to ampoules.

Recently, they released a new line called Labotica that includes masks (of course) and cleansers. Leaders presented the opportunity to try some of their new products so I jumped at the chance!

I tried 2 items: the Argan Oil Cleansing Wipes and the Lip and Eye Remover Pads.

Labotica Lip and Eye Remover Pads

Product Description:

The Green Tea Lip and Eye Point Remover wipes away stubborn makeup in the most sensitive areas of the face. The gentle yet powerful formula removes makeup without the need for excessive wiping, which may tug and irritate the skin.

Treats:
Dead skin cells
Sensitive skin
Waterproof makeup

Effectiveness:
Removes stubborn makeup around lips and eyes
Moisturizes skin with plant extracts
Deep cleans without irritating skin

Directions:

-Place the wipe over the lips and eyes for 5 minutes then wipe off gently. Repeat for 2-3 times. Then, wash off with warm water.

Ingredients:

Water, Mineral Oil, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Polysorbate 80, Glycerin, Tripropylene Glycol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Eucalyptus, Globulus Leaf Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Caprylyl Glycol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Citrus, Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil.

These circular wipes are soaked in solution and are citrus-scented. I'm not sure why this product says to hold on the lip and eye area for 5 minutes. I found 20-30 seconds to be sufficient. Here's how it worked on a few types of products:

top to bottom: Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara, Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour, Memebox I'm Stick Shadow, Marc Jacobs Highliner, Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint

I let these set for 15 minutes, pressed the pad to half of the area for 20 seconds, then swiped. Here's the results:

It removed them all in one swipe! Great results!

Labotica Argan Oil Cleansing Wipes

Product Description:

Formulated with Argan oil, these deep cleansing tissues softly remove make up and dead skin cells while cleansing and nourishing the skin.

Treats:
Dead skin cells
Dry and rough skin
Depleted skin

Effectiveness:
Removes make up and cleans the skin.
Nourishes skin
Provides intense hydration

Directions:
- Take out one tissue and gently remove makeup.
- Thoroughly rinse off with warm water.

Ingredients:

Water, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (500ppm), Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Bupleurum Falcatum Root Extract, Chaenomeles Sinesis Fruit Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Polysorbate 20, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Cocamidoproply Betaine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Citric Acid, Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Caprlyl Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Hexandiol, Sodium Benzoate, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

I like that these wipes have a hard plastic closure. I hate when I go to use my wipes and, because the sticker wasn't on quite well enough, they are all dried out! Thankfully, I won't have that problem with these! These wipes have a clean scent that I didn't at all find overpowering. Each side has a different texture: one side has little raised bumps for exfoliation, the other is smooth.

Here's how they performed:

Top to bottom: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, Wet N Wild Mega Glow Illuminator, LA Girl Pro Conceal, NYX Ombre Blush, Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation

Again, I let set for 15 minutes and swiped half of it. It easily removed all of my face makeup!

To see how this worked on eye and lip makeup, I swiped the other half of those items:

It completely removed the lip paint and almost removed the mascara. After more swiping, it removed everything but the eyeliner.

I've been using these for removing my makeup and sunscreen for about 2 weeks and I'm hooked! I really loved both of them. They're perfect for a lazy day double cleanse! (Of course, you follow these up with a foaming or cream cleanser.)

They're now available at Ulta and the Leaders USA website!

Adventures in masking: Holika Holika 3D Medi Ampoule Masks

Late last fall, Skin 18 started a new US blogger program so, being a huge fan of sheet masks, I applied and was chosen to be their ambassador for Tennessee. If you haven't heard of Skin18 before, they're a Hong Kong-based retailer that specializes in Korean beauty. They also run great promotions such as:

  • Freebies: Try some of their popular masks for free - just pay shipping!

I received three of the five varieties of the Holika Holika 3D Medi Ampoule Masks - Aqua, Whitening, and Pore.

Fit:

So, I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in the AB community who actually loves the fit of 3d masks and this one didn't disappoint (much) either. The sheet material is similar to SkinFood masks - a thick-ish soft sheet with an embossed pattern.
The sheet was larger than your average 3d mask but this feature made it fit almost perfectly - it completely covered the sides of my face! It also had flaps to hug your jawline but these didn't stay put as well as I'd like.
Also, I always have issues with the seam of 3d masks splitting in the upper lip area - this one didn't!

3d Medi Aqua Ampoule Mask

Featured ingredients: Glacier Water, hyaluronic acid, betaine

Claimed effects: "Moisturizing, Healthy Skin, Smooth Skin, Skin Balance"

Essence: thin, watery gel, not drippy,  no essence left over in packet.

Results: Recommended wear time is 10-20 minutes; I wore it for 30. This moisturized and hydrated pretty well. Residue was slightly sticky.

(Re)Purchase?: This did exactly what it was supposed to do (moisturize) but, honestly, I probably wouldn't purchase this. My skin is naturally quite oily and not particularly dehydrated so I don't really have much use for Aqua masks. Soothing and Whitening masks usually hydrate just fine for me.

3d Medi Whitening Ampoule Mask

Featured ingredients: Vitamin C, Vitamin B derivatives, and Vitamin B6.

Claimed effects: brightening skin tone, skin purification, whitening, and vitality.

Essence: A thin gel. It had a light citrus scent - it sorta reminded me of chewable Vitamin C. The sheet was soaked in essence and I didn't experience any dripping. There wasn't any extra essence left in the packet.

Results: Recommended wear time is 10-20 minutes; I wore mine for closer to 30. After I removed the mask, face felt smooth and was moisturized. It also brightened nicely but only for a few hours. The mask Essence leaves a slightly  sticky residue after you pat it in but feels fine after about 10 minutes.

(Re)Purchase?: I received this mask for review but I would totally buy more of these! (In moderation though - these are 4 bucks apiece!)

3d Medi Pore Ampoule Mask

Featured ingredients: Charcoal, Apricot Extract, and Allantoin

Claimed effects: Pore Closing, Sebum Absorbtion, Moisturizing, Skin Balance

Fit: This one is different from the other varieties - it's a black mask. The sheet is also a bit smaller than the white cotton sheets but it still had a decent fit. The eye and lip holes are almost too small for me, though.

Essence: smells like charcoal, thin gel, wasn't drippy
Because this material isn't as absorbent as the other varieties, there was about 1/2 T. of essence left.

Results: Wore for about 30 minutes, skin was a bit brighter, pores were refined (not significantly, though,) essence absorbed very quickly into my skin - no sticky residue, slight moisturization

(Re)Purchase?: I would definitely purchase! The effects of this mask remind me of the Leaders Pore Scaling mask - the main differences being that it's less moisturizing and there's less essence.
If you have dry-combo, normal or dry skin, you should probably pass on this one but for combo-oily and oily types, it's a winner.
